How to Set Up Your Email on iPhone (So You Don’t Miss Work Again)

(A.k.a. How to not ghost your auditions or miss that callback)

In this industry, your inbox is basically your lifeline. Whether you’re an actor, PA, indie director, or trying to land your first gig—missing a single email can cost you a job. We’re not being dramatic. We’re just being real.

At West America Film Company, we’re always reaching out for productions like To Matter and Red Flamingos. And if you’re hard to get a hold of… we might just move on to someone who isn’t.

So here’s how to make sure you never miss a cmail again—on iPhone and Android.

🍏 iPhone Setup (Super Easy)

1. Open the “Settings” app (It’s the gray gears icon)

2. Scroll down & tap “Mail”

3. Tap “Accounts”

4. Tap “Add Account” Choose Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook, iCloud, or whatever you use.

5. Sign in Enter your email and password.

6. Make sure “Mail” is turned ON & hit Save

7. Open your “Mail” app That’s it—your inbox is ready!

iPhone Pro Tips:

  • Turn On Notifications Settings → Notifications → Mail → Allow Notifications Choose Lock Screen, Banners, or however you want to get alerts.

  • Pin Important Messages Swipe right in the Mail app and hit the pin so key stuff stays at the top.

  • Make Folders to Organize Mail → Mailboxes → Edit → New Mailbox Try folders like: “Casting Calls,” “Call Sheets,” “Contracts”

🤖 Android Setup (We Got You)

1. Open the “Gmail” App It’s already on most Android phones. If not, download it.

2. Tap your profile icon (top right)

3. Tap “Add another account” Pick Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook, or Other.

4. Sign in Type your email and password.

5. Done! You’ll now see your inbox in the Gmail app.

Android Pro Tips:

  • Turn On Notifications Gmail → Settings → Your account → Notifications → Set to “All”

  • Star Important Emails Tap the little star next to big-deal messages (like that callback for a lead role, duh).

  • Create Labels to Stay Organized In Gmail → Tap Menu (3 lines) → Settings → Label Settings Try labels like: “Auditions,” “Crew Gigs,” “Invoices,” “West America”
